Is BGVault really free?
Yes! All core features are completely free forever. No premium tiers, no hidden costs.
Where are my images stored?
Your images are processed in your browser and stored locally in IndexedDB. We never upload them to our servers unless you choose server-side processing, and even then they're deleted after 1 hour.
What file formats are supported?
We support JPG, PNG, and WebP formats. Files can be up to 25MB in size.
How does the AI work?
We use TensorFlow.js with advanced body segmentation models to detect and remove backgrounds directly in your browser.
Can I process multiple images?
Yes! Use our Batch Processing tool to process up to 50 images simultaneously.
Do I need to create an account?
No! BGVault works without any registration or login. Your privacy is our priority.
Why is processing slow?
Processing speed depends on your device's capabilities and image size. Try reducing image size or using a more powerful device for faster results.
Can I access my processing history?
Yes! Visit the History page to see all your processed images stored locally in your browser.
What's the difference between "Fast (Client)" and "High Quality (Server)" processing?
Fast (Client) processes images directly in your browser using AI models - it's faster, works offline, and keeps your images 100% private. High Quality (Server) uses more powerful server-side processing for potentially better results but requires an internet connection.
How long are my processed images stored?
Images are stored locally in your browser for up to 30 days or until you reach the 500MB storage limit. You can manually clear history anytime from the History page.
Can I use BGVault on mobile devices?
Absolutely! BGVault works on any modern mobile browser. The interface adapts to your screen size for the best experience.
What keyboard shortcuts are available?
Press the ? key while using any tool to see all available shortcuts. Common ones include Ctrl+V to paste images, Ctrl+S to download, and zoom controls.
Why does my processed image look different from the preview?
Make sure you're downloading in the correct format (PNG for transparency) and check your export quality settings. Different image viewers may also display transparency differently - try opening in a different program.
Can I share my processed images with others?
Yes! After processing, click the "Share Result" button to generate a shareable link. Note that the link preserves your settings but not the actual processed image for privacy reasons.

- Storage full: Clear your history to free up IndexedDB space
